In Madam Secretary season 2 episode 4, titled "Waiting for Taleju," Secretary Elizabeth McCord (played by Téa Leoni) faces a challenging diplomatic mission as she travels to Nepal to oversee the delivery of humanitarian aid following a devastating earthquake.

As soon as Elizabeth arrives in Nepal, she finds herself in a race against time to distribute the much-needed aid before the monsoon season hits, which would make delivery even more difficult and potentially dangerous. The Nepalese government, however, is not making things easy for Elizabeth. They are demanding that the aid is delivered through their government channels, which Elizabeth does not trust. Elizabeth must navigate this diplomatic tightrope carefully, as she does not want to risk political repercussions back home while also wanting to ensure that the aid reaches those who need it most.

Meanwhile, Elizabeth's husband, Henry (played by Tim Daly), is stuck back in D.C. dealing with a crisis of his own. A high-level defector from China has claimed that they have proof that a senior U.S. government official has been spying for the Chinese government. Henry must work with his team to uncover the truth before it can cause irreparable harm to the United States' national security.

Back in Nepal, Elizabeth is confronted with another roadblock in the form of protesters who are blocking the roads, refusing to yield to the aid trucks. Elizabeth works to convince the protesters that the aid is not political, but humanitarian, and ultimately the protesters move aside, allowing the aid trucks to continue on their journey.

The episode also introduces a new character, local journalist Raja (played by Ravi Patel), who accompanies Elizabeth and her team on their journey. Raja provides Elizabeth with valuable insights into the local culture and politics, and the two form a bond that helps Elizabeth understand the challenges facing the Nepalese people.

As the episode comes to a close, Elizabeth and her team are able to successfully deliver the aid to the people who need it most, despite the many obstacles they faced along the way. Elizabeth returns to D.C. to reunite with her family, but it is clear that the challenges of her job as Secretary of State continue to weigh heavily on her mind.

Overall, Madam Secretary season 2 episode 4 offers a compelling look at the complex and often challenging world of diplomacy, as Elizabeth navigates a high-stakes mission amidst political tensions and logistical hurdles. The episode also introduces new characters and plotlines that help to deepen our understanding of the show's world and its characters.
