Ben and Saanvi are back to collaborating on what's happening to the passengers of Flight 828. They are examining the vast immensity of data they have collected, searching for something that could give them a clue to what led them to the heart of the mystery. Meanwhile, the Stone family, Jared, and the NSA are searching for answers as to why a plane that vanished for five years is now back and in one piece. Each character is grappling with their own demons, while the investigation only seems to get more complicated.
In the beginning, we see the death date of a fellow passenger—something that has been haunting the other characters from the beginning of the series. Throughout this episode, the characters are trying to put together pieces, solve the mysteries, and find out who is responsible for what's happening with each person on the plane and how they're being manipulated. Ultimately, they end up in a graveyard spiral in trying to solve the mystery as they hit multiple dead ends and end up with even more questions.
Ben and Saanvi's data crunching pays off as they discover a major clue, leading them toward an answer to one of the biggest mysteries on the show. They find themselves in a dark space as they realize the potentially earth-shattering implications of what they have discovered. This isn't a victory, but a chilling realization of how little they truly know about the situation.
Michaela, looking for answers in all the wrong places, comes face to face with Angelina, leading to an uneasy confrontation. Axl, on the other hand, is fighting an internal battle, struggling to control his violent tendencies while desperately seeking to use them to unearth the truth beneath the surface.
The NSA team makes a startling discovery about Cal, leading to even more unanswered questions for the protagonists. The team becomes increasingly distressed as things begin to unravel around them, and even more so upon learning that they cannot trust anyone from the NSA.
At the end of the episode, the viewer is left with numerous cliffhangers. The situation only becomes more dire for the passengers of Flight 828 as they struggle to piece together what happened to them while they were out of touch with the rest of the world. As always, nothing is straightforward, and each new revelation brings on a new wave of questions.
The show's writing and plot development are truly remarkable, layering in twists and turns that keep viewers on edge throughout the episode. The acting and cinematography, too, are of high caliber, as the show continues to deliver its signature blend of mystery, suspense, and sci-fi with aplomb. Graveyard Spiral is another outstanding episode in an excellent third season.
