Marvel’s Luke Cage is a Netflix original series that premiered in 2016 and ran for two seasons until 2018. The show is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and follows the story of Luke Cage, a former convict with superhuman strength and unbreakable skin.

Mike Colter stars as the titular hero, Luke Cage, who is introduced as a man trying to rebuild his life in Harlem, New York. After gaining his superpowers, Luke becomes a reluctant hero in his community, using his abilities to protect the people around him while struggling with his own inner demons.

Mahershala Ali plays Cornell "Cottonmouth" Stokes, one of the show's main villains. He is a powerful and ruthless gangster who runs most of Harlem’s criminal enterprises. Alfre Woodard plays Mariah Dillard, a local councilwoman and Cottonmouth's cousin who becomes entangled in his criminal activities.

Simone Missick plays Misty Knight, a detective who is initially suspicious of Luke Cage but eventually becomes an ally. Theo Rossi plays Shades Alvarez, a trusted advisor to Cottonmouth who finds himself in a power struggle between his boss and Mariah Dillard.

Frank Whaley, Frankie Faison, Darius Kaleb, Rosario Dawson, and Sonia Braga also star in the show.

The series tackles social issues such as police brutality, gentrification, and systemic inequality. It also features a predominantly Black cast and crew, with many of the episodes being directed by Black filmmakers.

The first season follows Luke's journey as he tries to protect his neighborhood from Cottonmouth's criminal empire while navigating his own personal demons. Along the way, he meets Misty Knight and forms a romantic relationship with Claire Temple, a nurse who appears in several other Marvel Netflix shows.

The second season sees Luke becoming a more well-known figure in Harlem and dealing with the fallout of his actions in the first season. He also faces new threats, including a powerful crime boss named Bushmaster who is seeking revenge against Mariah Dillard.

Overall, Marvel's Luke Cage is a unique and socially conscious addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With its talented cast, compelling characters, and thought-provoking storylines, it is a must-watch for fans of the genre.

Marvel's Luke Cage is a series that is currently running and has 2 seasons (26 episodes). The series first aired on September 26, 2016.
