The animated children's series Monsuno tells the story of three teenagers, Chase, Jinja, and Bren. They discover that Chase's father, Jeredy, is missing, but has left them a laboratory full of animal hybrid monsters called Monsuno. The Monsuno accompany the three kids on their quest to find Jeredy, investigate a mysterious organization called S.T.O.R.M., and defeat the villainous Dr. Emanuel Klipse. Chase, Jinja, and Bren also learn that, along with a young monk named Beyal and a rebellious boy named Dax, they are destined to change the world. Monsuno is an American-Japanese co-production. It was created by Jeremy Padawer and Jared Wolfson, businessmen who previously worked in the toy industry but channeled their love for animation into Monsuno. The show stars legendary voice actor Cam Clarke, famous for his roles as Leonardo in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Liquid Snake in the Metal Gear video games, as Chase, Jeredy, and Klipse. It airs on NickToons in the United States and on TV Tokyo in Japan. In the early episodes of the series, Chase, Jinja, and Bren discover the Monsuno and learn that S.T.O.R.M. intends to collect and control all of the Monsuno. Each teenager becomes the master of a Monsuno, and they use the monsters to protect them from danger and to fight their enemies' Monsuno. During their search for Jeredy, they meet Dr. Klipse, Jeredy's former partner, who seems to be an ally at first but turns out to have created the brutal Monsuno Fighting Underground. Klipse also believes that Chase's Monsuno, Lock, is the key to his master plan and seeks to steal Lock from Chase. Several companies co-produce Monsuno, including Dentsu Entertainment USA, Jakks Pacific, and Topps. FremantleMedia also produces the show and distributes it domestically and internationally. Monsuno premiered in the United States on February 23, 2012, and throughout Europe and Latin America in the spring of 2012. Its premiere was delayed in Japan, but it began airing there in October 2012. Twenty-six episodes have been produced in the first season.
