The episode "Marks for Effort" from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic season 8 follows the Cutie Mark Crusaders - Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo - as they struggle to find their true passions in life. As they approach the age where most ponies earn their cutie marks, the trio becomes increasingly worried that they will never discover their special talent.
To make matters worse, their teacher, Cheerilee, assigns a group project in which each student must showcase their unique abilities. Despite their best efforts, the Crusaders struggle to come up with a project that reflects their interests and abilities.
Meanwhile, Twilight Sparkle is battling her own perfectionist tendencies as she prepares for a big presentation at a Royal summit. She becomes frustrated with her inability to nail down the perfect speech and turns to her friends for help.
