More than 5,000 flights have been delayed and more than 1,000 cancelled as reductions went into effect Friday at 40 high-traffic airports, in what officials say is an attempt to relieve pressure amid the record-long government shutdown. UPS has grounded its fleet of McDonnell Douglas MD-11s, the type of plane involved in Tuesday's deadly crash in Louisville, Kentucky, the company confirmed Friday. Now, the FAA is ordering an investigation into those planes before they can fly again. The Department of Homeland Security says shots were fired at federal agents during an immigration operation.
