Once Upon a Time season 2 episode 1, titled "Broken," picks up where the first season left off, with the residents of Storybrooke discovering that magic is real and their memories of their former lives as fairy tale characters have been restored.
As the episode begins, we see Regina (aka the Evil Queen) being held captive in her own palace by the newly united Snow White and Prince Charming. Meanwhile, Emma and the rest of the town's inhabitants are left to pick up the pieces after the curse is broken, and they are grappling with the reality of their true identities and the memories of their former lives.
However, the transition back to their true selves is far from smooth sailing. For example, Ruby (aka Little Red Riding Hood) is reminded of her wolfish tendencies, and Mr. Gold (aka Rumpelstiltskin) is forced to confront the possibility of losing his magic and being reunited with his son.
Complicating matters further is the fact that a new threat is emerging in the form of a mysterious vandal who is wreaking havoc on the town. As Emma and Snow investigate, they discover that this new threat is none other than a stranger who has been mysteriously transported to Storybrooke from the Enchanted Forest.
The stranger, who introduces himself as Greg Mendell, claims to have been in a car accident and stumbled upon Storybrooke by chance. However, Emma and Snow aren't buying his story and suspect that he may have some nefarious intentions.
Meanwhile, in the forest, Mulan and Aurora (aka Sleeping Beauty) are on a mission to retrieve a magical compass that could help them find their way back home. However, their quest is interrupted by the arrival of a wounded Captain Hook, who is seeking their help in escaping a dangerous enemy.
As the episode unfolds, lines are drawn, loyalties are tested, and the stage is set for an epic battle between good and evil.
Overall, "Broken" sets the stage for an exciting and action-packed season of Once Upon a Time, full of twists, turns, and surprises that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
