Ep 2. Starting a New Club Is a Battleground

In Oreshura season 1 episode 2, titled "Starting a New Club Is a Battleground," we follow the aftermath of Masuzu Natsukawa forcing Eita Kidou to be her boyfriend in order to fend off other boys who are constantly confessing their love to her. Masuzu forms a new club called the "Make a Boyfriend Club" and ropes Eita into joining. But, being the independent and self-proclaimed "anti-love" Eita, he's not sure how he feels about this new situation.

Masuzu explains to Eita that the point of the club is to observe and study the different personalities of boys in school that confess to her, so she can better understand what it is they're looking for in a girlfriend. She believes that most boys just want a cute girlfriend to show off to their friends, and that true love doesn't exist. Eita, however, disagrees and thinks that true love is real, but it's just hard to find.

The two of them go to school and try to recruit members for their new club. They approach Chiwa Harusaki, Eita's longtime friend, who is ecstatic about the idea of starting a new club and immediately joins. The three of them start brainstorming ideas on what activities they can do as a club. Eita, still uncertain about the idea of the club, suggests that they should do something that isn't related to love, like playing video games. However, Masuzu insists that they stick to the theme of the club and do something more romantic, like going on dates together.

As they continue to recruit members, they run into Ai Fuyuumi, the class representative, who also happens to have a crush on Eita. She's angry that Eita is joining a new club without telling her about it first, and she's even more upset when she finds out that it's a club about love. Ai is determined to prevent Eita from getting closer to Masuzu, and she insists that she becomes a member of the club as well.

The group now has a fourth member, and they start to plan their first activity: a competition to see who can impress Masuzu the most. The competition involves buying her the best lunch, and then taking her on a date to the amusement park. Eita, Chiwa, and Ai try their best to impress Masuzu, but she seems unimpressed with all of their efforts.

Throughout the episode, we see Eita struggling with his feelings for Masuzu and Chiwa. On the one hand, he's attracted to Masuzu's intelligence and beauty, but on the other hand, he's always felt a strong connection with Chiwa. He's unsure of what he wants, and he doesn't want to hurt either of them.

In the end, they all have a fun day at the amusement park and bond over their experiences. Masuzu acknowledges that while she thought the competition was silly, she enjoyed spending time with her new friends and is happy to have started a new club. Eita, too, realizes that while he's not entirely sold on the idea of a love club, he's happy to have made some new friends and had a fun day.

Overall, Oreshura season 1 episode 2 is a lighthearted and entertaining episode that explores themes of love and friendship. It's an excellent continuation of the series and sets up the groundwork for future episodes to come.
