Nyarko-san: Another Crawling Chaos is a Japanese anime series that blends classic science fiction with everyday high school life. The main character of the show is Mahiro Yasaka, a normal teen boy who is just hoping to make it through school. His life seems relatively dull until he is unexpectedly attacked by strange black aliens one evening. Suddenly, Mahiro's life is in danger. Luckily, another alien named Nyaruko comes to Mahiro's aid. After defeating Mahiro's attackers, Nyaruko explains that both she and the alien attacker are Cthulhu, a specific type of alien gods. Although Nyaruko looks like a relatively normal teenage girl, she is actually the Cthulhu god of chaos, and is simply taking the shape of a human. Nyaruko also tells Mahiro that he is the target of alien traffickers and that she has been sent to protect him. She then follows Mahiro to his house and ends up staying with him. Mahiro has no idea what to make of everything that Nyaruko has told him. He just wants to live a quiet, normal life. However, when more aliens show up, either to attack Mahiro or to aid Nyaruko, Mahiro realizes that his life has been turned upside down and will never be the same. As the series progresses, Mahiro and Nyaruko form a close friendship, coming to rely on each other. Nyaruko even develops feelings of love for Mahiro. Although Mahiro is attracted to Nyaruko, he rejects her advances, believing that it is not right for a human and an alien to fall in love. Nyaruko, Mahiro and their friends continue to battle against the aliens that want to kidnap Mahiro, with each day bringing a new challenge. As the ultimate showdown against the aliens approaches, Nyaruko and Mahiro must also figure out how they feel about each other, and what their futures will be like.

Having joined the Planetary Defense Organization, Kuko has been assigned to go to Earth to solve the Dreamlands murders with Nyarko.

Another day, another attack from the mysterious Nightgaunt monsters, and another resounding victory for Nyarko and her Space CQC. Rather than waiting for the monsters to attack, Nyarko announces her plan to go on the offensive. In order to take out all their enemies at once, Nyarko and Mahiro head to the underground auction held at their enemies' base, R'lyeh. However, the two find themselves face to face with an assassin, Nyarlathotep's archnemesis, Cthuga the Living Flame.

"I'm the chaos that always crawls up to you with a smile, Nyarlathotep." Identifying herself as the deity from the Cthulu Mythos, she claims to have come to protect Mahiro. However, she tricks Mahiro into leaving his home, goes shopping at anime shops, and in general mixes business with her personal affairs. Meanwhile, they are assaulted by another mysterious monster. Why do these monsters keep attacking Mahiro?
