Orphen season 1 episode 1, titled "The Sword of Baltanders," introduces the audience to its main protagonist, Orphen, who is a sorcerer and has been living a peaceful life in the streets of the town of Totokanta. However, his world turns upside down when he receives a letter from his former friend, Azalea, asking him to come to the Tower of Fang.
Azalea, whom Orphen knew back in his days as an apprentice at the Tower of Fang, has now become a powerful sorceress and one of the ruling members of the academy. Upon Orphen's arrival at the Tower of Fang, he not only has to reunite with Azalea but also with his former classmates, who are now successful sorcerers in their own right. However, Orphen is not welcomed warmly as he was expelled from the academy under mysterious circumstances.
As Orphen tries to piece together the events that led to his expulsion, he bonds with a couple of new characters, a street urchin called Majic and a thief named Cleo. They both assist him in his quest to retrieve the Sword of Baltanders, an ancient and powerful artifact that everyone seems to be looking for. The Sword of Baltanders is said to have the power to turn the tide of a battle and has been missing for centuries.
Their quest takes them to an abandoned temple, where Orphen has to fight off a group of mercenaries who are also after the weapon. After a hard-fought battle, Orphen retrieves the sword, and in doing so, unlocks a hidden power within himself. He also receives a cryptic message from a mysterious lady saying nothing but "I'm waiting for you."
The episode's plot serves as a setup for the larger story arcs to come in the series, while also introducing the characters and their motivations. Though the main focus of the episode seems to be the Sword of Baltanders, it's clear that there are deeper mysteries surrounding Orphen's past, and it's only a matter of time before those get uncovered. The episode ends on a cliffhanger that leaves the audience wanting more, as we wonder who the mysterious lady is and why she's waiting for Orphen.
Overall, the first episode of Orphen serves as an excellent introduction to the series, and it sets the stage for an exciting adventure with unique characters and an engaging storyline. The animation style and soundtrack complement the series' fantasy genre, and the voice actors do a fantastic job of bringing the characters to life. Orphen season 1 episode 1 is full of action, adventure, and mystery, and it's a must-watch for fans of the fantasy genre.
