Pizza Masters is a travelogue-style series that showcases different styles of pizza across the United States. In season 1, episode 5, entitled "Deep Dish Pizza", hosts Sal Basille and Francis Garcia, two cousins from New York City, embark on a mission to try out the famed Deep Dish pizzas in Chicago.

The episode opens with Sal and Francis getting off their plane in the Windy City. They are excited to start their Chicago pizza crawl and meet up with their local guide, Tony, who has lined up a list of some of the best Deep Dish pizzerias in the city. First up is Lou Malnati's, a Chicago institution that has been serving up its signature Deep Dish since 1971. Sal and Francis are eager to try out their famous sausage and cheese pizza. As they dig in, they rave about the delicious crust, gooey cheese and chunky tomato sauce.

Next, Tony takes Sal and Francis to Pequod's Pizza, another must-visit spot in the city. Pequod's is known for its caramelized crust, which is created by lining the edge of the pizza pan with cheese and letting it bake. Sal and Francis are intrigued by this unique method, and eagerly tuck into their caramelized pepperoni pizza. They agree that it's unlike any pizza they've ever tried before - the cheese encased crust is crispy, savory and divine.

The next stop is Gino's East, another iconic Deep Dish pizza place. As they wait for their pizza, Sal and Francis check out the walls of the restaurant, which are covered in graffiti from visitors over the years. Once their pizza arrives, they dig into the cheesy tomato goodness of Gino's signature Deep Dish. Sal notes how the tomato sauce tastes especially fresh and how the crust leaves a buttery aftertaste in his mouth.

After three rounds of Deep Dish pizza, Sal and Francis have a tough time fitting in their last stop - Pizzeria Uno, which is credited with creating the very first Deep Dish pizza. They are determined to power through and make one last pizza stop on their journey. As they sit down at the historic Pizzeria Uno, they marvel at the size of the pizza - it's massive compared to the other ones they've tried! They choose to go for the 'Numero Uno', the original pizza that started it all. As they take their first bites, they exclaim that the crust is thick and buttery, with a soft texture that melts in the mouth. The cheese perfectly complements the chunky tomato basil sauce, and the toppings bring it all together.

Sal and Francis end the episode with a deep appreciation for the Chicago Deep Dish pizza. They note that while it might be unlike the New York style pizza they're used to, it's a unique experience that is well worth a visit. They promise to be back soon for another slice!
