Princess Jellyfish is an anime television series produced by Brain's Base and based on a manga series of the same name by Akiko Higashimura. The show first premiered in 2010 and ran for a total of 11 episodes. The series follows the life of Tsukimi Kurashita (voiced by Kana Hanazawa), an introverted and shy girl who has a passion for jellyfish. Tsukimi lives in a shared apartment with other women who are all around the same age as her, and they all share a love and fascination for different types of otaku culture. They all refer to themselves as 'Amars' or 'nuns' and are all virgins.

Tsukimi's life takes a turn when she meets Kuranosuke Koibuchi (voiced by Mitsuki Saiga), a stylish and fashionable young man who happens to cross paths with Tsukimi one day while she is out admiring jellyfish. Kuranosuke is the son of a wealthy politician and has a unique sense of style that includes dressing up in women's clothes. He takes an interest in Tsukimi and her jellyfish hobby and sets out to help her and her friends save their beloved jellyfish aquarium from being demolished.

The show primarily revolves around Tsukimi and Kuranosuke's evolving relationship and their efforts to help each other through their different struggles. Tsukimi's character arc is mainly focused on her journey towards self-discovery and gaining self-confidence. Kuranosuke, on the other hand, is navigating the expectations and pressures that come with being born into a wealthy and powerful family.

The show also explores other themes such as the importance of friendship, the power of acceptance, and the danger of conformity in Japanese society. One of the most significant subplots of the series is the conflict between the Amars and a developer who plans to demolish their apartment building to make way for new construction. The Amars, who all lack confidence and social skills, must band together and use their unique skills to try to save their home.

Princess Jellyfish features a diverse cast of characters, each with their quirks and personalities that make them distinct and memorable. One such character is Mayaya (voiced by Mamiko Noto), a tall and athletic girl who is obsessed with trains and has a short temper. Another is Chieko (voiced by Akemi Okamura), a quiet and introverted girl who is an expert in taking classic Japanese dolls and reimagining them into uniquely modern pieces.

The show's animation quality is top-notch and captures the distinctive art-style of the manga it is based on. The soundtrack is also excellent and features catchy and memorable tracks that complement the show's tone and mood.

Overall, Princess Jellyfish is a heartwarming and relatable story that explores the role of self-discovery and acceptance in personal growth. With its well-crafted characters, beautiful animation, and delightful humor, this anime is a must-watch for anyone looking for a unique and compelling story.

Princess Jellyfish is a series that is currently running and has 1 seasons (11 episodes). The series first aired on October 14, 2010.
