When it comes to drama in the workplace, few shows can compare to Protect the Boss. In Season 1 Episode 9, tensions continue to rise as the characters navigate their complicated professional and personal relationships.
At the heart of the episode is the fallout from the revelation that Ji Heon (played by Jaejoong) is not actually the heir to the company. This news has thrown everyone for a loop, but none more so than Ji Heon himself. He's feeling lost and aimless, unsure of his place in the world now that the one thing he thought he knew about himself has been taken away.
Meanwhile, Eun Seol (played by Choi Kang Hee) is dealing with her own set of problems. She's been tasked by her boss to spy on Ji Heon and gather information about his potential heir status, despite her growing feelings for him. It's a difficult position to be in, especially since Ji Heon seems to be withdrawing from her.
The tension between the two characters is palpable throughout the episode, as they struggle to communicate their feelings to one another. Eun Seol is hurt that Ji Heon seems to be shutting her out, and she's not sure how to proceed. Ji Heon, for his part, is grappling with his own insecurities and doesn't know how to let anyone in.
Meanwhile, the other characters are dealing with their own issues. Moo Won (played by Jaejoong's fellow K-pop star Kim Jaejoong) is conflicted about his feelings for his childhood friend Na Yoon, who is now engaged to his brother. He's also dealing with pressure from his father to compete for the CEO position, which is making him question his own loyalty to the company.
And finally, we have Ji Heon's cousin Cha Ji Hun (played by Jisung), who has been scheming to take over the company for himself. He's been working behind the scenes to undermine Ji Heon and his father, and in this episode, his plans are starting to come to fruition.
All of these plotlines come to a head in the final moments of the episode, which leave viewers on the edge of their seats. Protect the Boss is a thrilling ride from start to finish, with complex characters and intricate plotlines that keep you guessing until the very end.
