Kyoko Sakura, the magical girl who has been causing trouble for Sayaka Miki, confronts her in a church as she mourns the loss of her friend. Sayaka, still unable to control her own emotions and powers, initially refuses to listen to Kyoko's words of wisdom. However, as the night wears on and the two girls continue to speak, Sayaka slowly begins to see Kyoko's point of view.

Meanwhile, Madoka Kaname and Homura Akemi team up to investigate the powerful witch that has been causing chaos in the city. As they delve deeper into the maze-like labyrinth that surrounds the witch's lair, they come across several other magical girls who have been drawn to the area. With their help, Madoka and Homura are able to identify the witch's weakness and devise a plan to destroy her.

As the girls prepare to face the witch, Sayaka and Kyoko also arrive on the scene, still in the midst of their own heated argument. However, when the witch's minions attack, the two girls are forced to put their differences aside and fight together. Using their combined powers, they are able to defeat the witch and save the city from destruction.

Despite their success, however, tensions between Kyoko and Sayaka continue to simmer beneath the surface. As the girls part ways, it becomes clear that their friendship may never be the same again. Meanwhile, Madoka and Homura are left to ponder the wider implications of the magical girls' battles, and wonder what other enemies — and allies — may lie ahead.
