Remarkable Places to Eat season 1 episode 2 takes the viewers on a culinary journey to one of Scotland's most beautiful cities, Edinburgh. The episode is hosted by the talented British master chef, Fred Sirieix and he is joined by his food-loving friend, food critic and author, Jay Rayner. They explore some of the most remarkable places to eat in Edinburgh, showcasing the city's vibrant and diverse food culture.

The episode starts with a visit to the Royal Botanic Garden where the team meets up with chef Tony Singh. The garden is home to over 13,000 plant species, and Tony takes the opportunity to showcase some of Scotland's finest ingredients. He prepares a scrumptious woodland rabbit dish, which is served with a flavourful apple and thyme sauce.

Next, the team travels to The Elephant House, a café known for its association with the famous Harry Potter books. J.K. Rowling penned some parts of the book series here, and the café serves a range of themed teas and treats. Fred and Jay try out some of their best scones and hot beverages, while admiring the charming view of Edinburgh Castle.

For the third stop, Fred and Jay arrive at The Kitchin, a Michelin-starred restaurant owned by the masterful Scottish chef Tom Kitchin. Here, the duo is treated to an exceptional dining experience, with the highlight dish being the signature dish of the restaurant - "The Kitchin's Surprise Egg". The egg is a quirky take on traditional haggis, with a mashed potato filling, accompanied by a rich and creamy whisky sauce.

In the fourth part of the show, the team visits a traditional Scottish pub, The Abbotsford. Here, they meet up with head chef James Freeman, who prepares a range of mouth-watering pub grub dishes, including the famous haggis, neeps and tatties. The pub was once the haunt of Robert Burns, a legendary Scottish writer, and the team learns about the rich history and culture of Scotland over a pint.

Finally, Fred and Jay arrive at Mac & Wild, a lively restaurant that specialises in serving wild Scottish game. The restaurant is famous for its venison dishes, and Fred and Jay are treated to a Veni-moo burger, which is a surprising combination of beef and venison. The team also takes part in a cocktail-making masterclass, where they learn how to make the perfect whisky sour.

Overall, Remarkable Places to Eat season 1 episode 2 brilliantly showcases the vast range of diverse foods and drinks that Edinburgh has to offer. With stunning camera work, enthusiastic hosts, and a delicious array of dishes, the episode is a must-watch for all food lovers and travellers.
