Riverworld is a science fiction series from Syfy that premiered in 2010. The show has a large ensemble cast that features Tahmoh Penikett, Laura Vandervoort, Kwesi Ameyaw, Mark Deklin, Matty Finochio, Peter Wingfield, Romina D'Ugo, Brad Johnson, Cameron Daddo, Jonathan Cake, Kevin Tod Smith, Paolo Rotondo, Patrick Kake in important roles.

The show is set in a parallel world, where every human who has ever lived on the planet is mysteriously resurrected along the banks of a seemingly endless river. With no memories of their lives on earth, the dead souls are forced to start afresh in this new reality, fighting for survival with people from different cultures and time periods. The river is the only constant in this bizarre world and seemingly leads to nowhere, giving rise to a sense of foreboding in the undead.

The protagonist of the show is Matt Ellman, played by Tahmoh Penikett, a war correspondent who died in Afghanistan. On his resurrection, Matt wakes up to find himself in Riverworld. Along with the other resurrected humans of the Riverworld, he has to struggle with a new reality and work together to unravel the mystery behind their resurrection. The task is daunting, as the humans come from different backgrounds, cultures, languages and time periods, but with a common goal, they try to find out what really is going on. But they aren't the only inhabitants of the Riverworld. Fierce tribes, dangerous wildlife and supernatural beings also dwell here, making every moment of their journey fraught with danger.

Laura Vandervoort plays Jesse, a strong-willed and determined female fighter, who is pitted against Matt initially but soon joins forces with him to solve the bigger mystery at hand. Jesse has her own agenda, and being stranded in Riverworld only serves to heighten her focus on her personal mission.

Kwesi Ameyaw portrays the character of Bran, a prince from medieval times who was executed for defying his king, only to find himself resurrected on the banks of Riverworld. Bran is determined to reunite with his love and prove to his former kingdom that they were wrong to have him killed. The character is well-conceived and adds a medieval flair to the show.

Mark Deklin plays The Caretaker, the enigmatic and mysterious keeper of the Riverworld, who seems to hold all the answers to the questions that plague our heroes. Matty Finochio portrays Tom, a young boy who finds himself in this strange new world and looks up to Matt for guidance.

Romina D'Ugo, Brad Johnson, Cameron Daddo, Jonathan Cake, Kevin Tod Smith, Paolo Rotondo, and Patrick Kake bring their own unique characteristics and strengths to the ensemble cast, adding layers of complexity to the story.

The Riverworld challenges the humans both physically and mentally. The struggle for supplies, food, shelter and survival is an ongoing theme, but there is also an emotional struggle. The characters are haunted by memories of their past lives, which slowly begin to surface, adding to their confusion and making them question the true purpose of their presence in this world.

The show features great visuals, crisp editing, and top-notch production values. The writing is strong and keeps the audience hooked, with a lot of plot twists and turns. Riverworld is a great addition to the Syfy's roster of science fiction programming.

In conclusion, Riverworld is a compelling and thought-provoking science fiction series with a great storyline and talented cast. The show explores themes of identity, redemption, and the human experience, while still delivering on its promises of action and adventure.
