Sailor Moon Sub Season 1 Episode 17 An Animated Mess

  • October 3, 1995

The Sailor Scouts are back in action in the 17th episode of Sailor Moon Sub season 1, "An Animated Mess." As the name suggests, this episode has a unique twist: the Sailor Scouts find themselves drawn into an animated world!

It all starts when Usagi, aka Sailor Moon, goes to the local arcade with her friends. While playing a new fighting game, she notices that the characters on the screen seem to be moving in a very strange way. Suddenly, the characters come to life and pull the Scouts into the game's animated world!

Once inside this bizarre dimension, the Scouts meet a woman named Animator who tells them that the world they're in is a place where animated characters are brought to life. Animator's job is to maintain the harmony of this world, but she's being targeted by a group of villains who want to disrupt the balance.

The Sailor Scouts, being the protectors of Earth, immediately agree to help Animator fight off these villains and save the animated world. But things are easier said than done when the Scouts realize they're stuck in their own cartoonish forms and don't have their usual weaponry.

Fortunately, Animator is able to give the Scouts some special abilities that are specific to the animated world they're in. Sailor Moon, for example, has the power to stretch her arms and legs like a rubber band, while Sailor Mercury gains the ability to manipulate water like a cartoon character.

As the Scouts navigate this world, they encounter a variety of wacky and dangerous situations. They have to fight off animated monsters, put out fires with cartoonish methods, and even traverse a landscape that constantly rotates like a Rubik's cube.

Despite the challenges they face, the Scouts remain determined to help Animator and restore balance to the animated world. But as they get closer to their goal, they start to wonder if they'll ever be able to return to the real world.

Overall, "An Animated Mess" is a fun and inventive episode that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats. From the colorful animation to the silly situations the Scouts find themselves in, it's a delightful change of pace from the show's usual plotlines. But as always, the heart of Sailor Moon Sub season 1 shines through with the themes of friendship, teamwork, and the importance of protecting those who can't protect themselves.
