Sailor Moon Sub Season 2 Episode 11 Detention Doldrums
- December 6, 1995
As the title suggests, this episode of Sailor Moon Sub season 2 is all about detention. It starts off with Usagi and her friends being punished after school for sleeping in class. However, they quickly discover that something strange is going on when they notice that all the other students in detention seem to be in a trance-like state. A new character named Mimet is introduced, who seems to be the culprit behind the strange behavior.
Mimet is a member of the Death Busters, a group of villains who are after the three Talismans that will unlock the Holy Grail and grant them immense power. Her power is to put people into a deep sleep and drain their energy, which is what she's doing to the students in detention. Of course, the Sailor Guardians aren't going to let her get away with it.
As they investigate, the Sailor Guardians learn that Mimet has been hiding out in the school as a teacher's assistant. She's been using the detention room to her advantage, feeding off the energy of the students who are being punished. The Sailor Guardians team up to stop her, using their powers to restore the energy of the students and defeat Mimet.
One thing that stands out in this episode is the way it explores the theme of punishment. Usagi and her friends are initially upset about having to stay after school for detention, but they quickly realize that the punishment is nothing compared to what Mimet is doing to the other students. It's an interesting commentary on the way punishments can be perceived, and how our perspective can change when we see how others are suffering.
Another standout element of this episode is the wise words of Michiru, aka Sailor Neptune. She tells Usagi that they shouldn't just see Mimet as a villain to be defeated, but as a person who is in pain and needs help. This moment brings a depth to the story that is often missing from this type of show. It's a reminder that even the bad guys are human, and that we should strive to understand their motives rather than just defeating them.
Of course, the episode also has plenty of action and excitement. The Sailor Guardians have to use all their powers to stop Mimet, and as usual, there are some tense moments as they battle it out. Fans of the show will find plenty to enjoy here, including some memorable moments and great animation.
Overall, Detention Doldrums is an excellent episode that showcases the best of Sailor Moon. It has a great balance of humor, action, and emotion, and it introduces an interesting new character in Mimet. Whether you're a die-hard fan or new to the show, this episode is a must-watch.
