Steve Martin returns to Saturday Night Live for the tenth time, and he brings along his friend Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers for a rockin' night of comedy and music. The cold open sees Dana Carvey reprising his role as President George H.W. Bush, trying to decide whether or not to launch a military strike on Iraq. In one sketch, Steve Martin and Victoria Jackson play a couple who are trying to spice up their love life by inviting a group of strangers into their bedroom. Meanwhile, Chris Farley and David Spade bring back their hilarious "Gap Girls" characters, who work at the Gap and dream of meeting famous people.

Musical guest Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers perform several of their hits, including "Learning to Fly" and "Runnin' Down a Dream." Steve Martin joins them on stage for a rendition of "King Tut," one of his classic SNL skits from the late 1970s. In other sketches, Steve Martin plays a self-help guru who takes his motivational speech a little too far, and a cowboy who hosts a children's show but can't seem to get his puppets to cooperate.

The Weekend Update desk is helmed by Kevin Nealon and Victoria Jackson, who deliver a mix of political jokes and wacky humor. Among the topics covered are the O.J. Simpson trial, the Gulf War, and the latest Hollywood gossip. In a recurring segment, Jan Hooks plays a ditzy Hollywood correspondent who interviews celebrities with a complete lack of knowledge or tact.

One particularly memorable sketch sees Steve Martin as a customer at an auto repair shop where the mechanics are all played by the blues musician Keb' Mo'. The staff sing and play guitar while fixing the car, eventually leading to an all-out jam session. Another sketch features Steve Martin as a contestant on "Jeopardy!", where he repeatedly buzzes in with the same wrong answer. The competition heats up when the real Alex Trebek shows up to take over as host.

As always, the cast members get their share of screen time as well. Mike Myers plays a hapless weatherman who keeps getting interrupted by other people in the studio, while Phil Hartman does a spot-on impression of Phil Donahue. Julia Sweeney and Ellen Cleghorne team up for a sketch about a pair of clueless fashion models who can't figure out how to pose for the cameras.

Overall, "Saturday Night Live" season 14 episode 20 is a classic installment of the long-running comedy series. Steve Martin and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers are a winning combination, and the sketches are both funny and memorable. The episode is a vivid snapshot of the early 1990s, capturing the political and cultural climate of the time. Whether you're a longtime fan or a newcomer to the show, this episode is sure to entertain.
