With a target audience of home school students, this program was intended as an alternative to PBS and its children's educational offerings. Available as streaming video from Amazon and other retailers, Amazing America's episodes tried through song, cooking, and other devices to interest elementary school children in uniquely American topics, largely covering history and politics. Video topics dealt with Johnny Appleseed, the World's Fair, the Civil Rights movement, American states and Presidents, and more. It was possible to get accompanying workbooks and lesson plans to accompany the videos from Scholastic. Amazing America lasted for only a handful of episodes and one season.
