  • 1 Season

Showtime specials happen throughout the year. The 2013 batch featured comedians, musicians and documentaries. Bob Saget presented a fun special called "That's What I'm Talking About" featuring his comedy act. Spoiler alert, it gets pretty blue--funny coming from a guy who made his career on family friendly "Full House." "Kingdom Come" was a reality-based special detailing the quest by first-time director Daniel Gillies to finance a movie called "Broken Kingdom." Indie cinema giants from Mark Ruffalo and Kevin Smith to Morgan Spurlock and Ileana Douglas chronicled a wild ride through independent moviemaking. "Last Days Here" portrayed cult musical legend Bobby Liebling and his band Pentagram. A Richard Pryor documentary appeared in 2013. It featured iconic comedians like Bob Newhart and Mike Epps reflecting on Pryor's comedy. Marina Zenovich directed the film that was produced by Pryor's widow, Jennifer Pryor, along with Roy Ackerman. Other Showtime specials included "Knuckleball!" about the art and science of throwing the wacky pitch. Dave Foley hosted a comedic special. So, too, did Shaquille O'Neal who presented an all-star comedy jam from Atlanta. NFL Hall of Fame linebacker Lawrence Taylor was the subject of a special. Controversial director Roman Polanski was examined in another documentary.

Indie cinema giants from Mark Ruffalo and Kevin Smith to Morgan Spurlock and Ileana Douglas chronicled a wild ride through independent moviemaking.
