Simon & Simon is an American detective television series that ran from 1981 to 1989. The show revolves around two brothers, Rick Simon and A.J. Simon, who run a private detective agency. Each episode sees the brothers taking on a new case and using their different skills and personalities to solve it.

Season 3 episode 17 of Simon & Simon is titled "The Wrong Stuff." The episode sees the Simon brothers taking on the case of a missing astronaut. The astronaut in question is Chris Holden, who was part of a three-man space mission. The other two astronauts have returned to Earth, but Holden is nowhere to be found.

The Simons are hired by the astronaut's sister, who is convinced that Holden is still alive. She believes that he may have landed in a remote part of the desert and is trying to make his way back. The Simons are initially skeptical of the idea but decide to take the case when they discover that Holden was carrying a valuable sample of moon rock when he disappeared.

The Simons begin their investigation by visiting the space agency where Holden worked. They meet with the head of the agency, who tells them that Holden was a model employee and there is no reason to suspect foul play. However, the Simons soon discover that there are several people who had a motive to harm Holden.

The first suspect is the third member of the space mission, a man named Carl Lee. Lee has a history of violence and had a heated argument with Holden just before the mission. The Simons track Lee down to a remote desert town and confront him. Lee denies any involvement in Holden's disappearance but admits that he is in possession of the moon rock sample.

The Simons continue their search for Holden and eventually come across a small community in the desert. The community is led by a man named Rafe, who welcomes the Simons with open arms. However, the Simons soon discover that Rafe is involved in a black market operation that deals in moon rocks.

The Simons confront Rafe and demand to know what he knows about Holden's disappearance. Rafe denies any involvement but eventually reveals that he saw Holden crash land in the desert. Holden was badly injured, and Rafe and his community helped him. However, Holden later died from his injuries, and Rafe buried him in the desert.

The Simons are shocked by the revelation but are determined to find Holden's body and return it to his family. They search the desert and eventually find Holden's grave. They retrieve his body and bring it back to his sister.

In the end, the Simons are able to solve the case, but they are left with a sense of sadness. Holden was a hero and a beloved member of the space community, and his death is a huge loss. The Simons are left to ponder the mysteries of space and the fragility of human life.

Overall, "The Wrong Stuff" is a compelling and emotional episode of Simon & Simon. The episode combines elements of science fiction and detective drama to create a unique and engaging story. The Simons are at their best in this episode, using their wit and cunning to solve the case and bring closure to Holden's family.
