In Somewhere South season 1 episode 6 titled "How Do You 'Cue?", host and chef Vivian Howard explores the barbecue culture of Georgia. As she visits various barbecue joints and meets legendary pitmasters, she learns about the history and traditions of Georgia-style barbecue. She discovers the unique techniques and ingredients used in the region and how it differs from other styles of barbecue found in the Southern United States.

Vivian starts her journey in Griffin, Georgia, where she visits Fresh Air Barbecue. She meets owner and pitmaster, Michael Sweat, and learns about the history of this iconic barbecue joint that has been in business since 1929. Sweat shows Vivian how he slow-cooks his pork and chicken over hickory wood, and she gets a taste of their famous vinegar-based sauce.

Next, Vivian visits B's Cracklin' BBQ in Atlanta, where she meets pitmaster Bryan Furman, who is known for his whole hog barbecue. Furman explains the process of cooking a whole hog and how it's different from cooking just the pork shoulder. Vivian also gets to try some of their famous cracklin' cornbread and collard greens.

After Atlanta, Vivian heads to McKinney's in Chatsworth, Georgia, where she meets the McKinney family, who have been in the barbecue business for three generations. She learns about their unique method of cooking ribs in a pit made of cinder blocks and gets a taste of their signature barbecue sauce.

Vivian then travels to Savannah, Georgia, to meet the legendary pitmaster Rodney Scott at his new restaurant. Scott, who is originally from South Carolina, is known for his whole hog barbecue and has won numerous awards for his cooking. Vivian learns about Scott's journey to becoming a pitmaster and the importance of preserving the traditions of Southern barbecue.

Finally, Vivian ends her journey at The Smoke Ring in Atlanta, where she meets pitmaster Jordan Wakefield. Wakefield shows Vivian how he cooks his brisket and explains the difference between Texas-style and Georgia-style barbecue. Vivian also gets to try their award-winning smoked wings and banana pudding.

Throughout the episode, Vivian not only learns about the techniques and flavors of Georgia-style barbecue, but also about the culture and community that surrounds it. She discovers how barbecue is more than just food, but a way of life for many people in the South.
