State of Flux is the tenth episode of the third season of Star Trek: Voyager. The episode begins with Voyager's crew discovering that one of the members of the Maquis, a group of rebels who were fighting against the Cardassians before being stranded in the Delta Quadrant with Voyager, has been smuggling replicator technology to the Kazon, a hostile alien species. Lieutenant Tuvok and others try to uncover the identity of the traitor, but the investigation is complicated by the fact that the Maquis are not completely integrated into Voyager's crew.

As they dig deeper, Tuvok and Chakotay, the Maquis leader aboard Voyager, discover evidence that points to Seska, a Bajoran who was a former member of Chakotay's Maquis cell. Seska, however, denies any wrongdoing and claims that she is being framed. Captain Janeway offers Seska the chance to undergo a medical scan that will prove her innocence, but Seska refuses, claiming that it is a violation of her privacy.

Meanwhile, tensions between the Maquis and Starfleet crew simmer as accusations are thrown around and suspicions continue to grow. A confrontation between Chakotay and Tuvok heats up and it seems like the uneasy alliance between the two groups of crew members may be falling apart.

As the investigation deepens, it becomes clear that Seska is not who she appears to be. The crew discovers that she is actually a Cardassian spy who infiltrated Chakotay's Maquis cell during their resistance efforts against the Cardassian occupation. The replicator technology she has stolen is being sent to Cardassia Prime, in exchange for intelligence about Voyager's position and capabilities.

The crew of Voyager is shocked by this revelation and forced to confront the fact that they have been harboring a spy who has put them all in danger. Janeway demands that Seska be handed over to Starfleet authorities, but Seska manages to escape and steal a shuttlecraft. Chakotay, still loyal to Seska, pursues her. In the end, Seska is killed in the ensuing struggle, leaving the crew of Voyager to deal with the aftermath of her betrayal.

State of Flux is a tense and riveting episode that explores complex themes of trust, loyalty, and betrayal. The growing tension between the Starfleet crew and the Maquis adds an extra layer of drama to the investigation, as everyone struggles to deal with the possibility of a traitor in their midst. As always, the outstanding cast of Voyager delivers excellent performances, conveying the deep emotions and conflicting loyalties that drive the characters' actions.

This episode also serves as a reminder of the dangers and challenges faced by Voyager's crew in their journey home. Even as they strive to survive and explore new worlds, they must also be vigilant against threats from both outside and within their own ranks.

Overall, State of Flux is a standout episode, full of suspense and excellent storytelling. It is a must-watch for fans of Star Trek: Voyager and a great entry point for those new to the series.
