Next, Fry travels to Atlanta, Georgia, where he explores the legacy of civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr. Fry visits the Martin Luther King National Historic Site, where he walks through King's childhood home and the nearby Ebenezer Baptist Church, where King preached his sermons. Fry also interviews civil rights leader and politician John Lewis, who provides insight into the work he and others have done to advance civil rights.

Fry's journey continues to Mississippi, where he discovers the Blues Trail, which showcases many of the locations that were instrumental in the development and spread of blues music. He visits local musicians, who play songs that reveal the deep-seated pain and joy of Mississippi's African-American community.

Finally, Fry visits New Orleans, one of the most vibrant and diverse cities in the United States. He visits the iconic Bourbon Street, where he samples the local cuisine and takes part in some of the city's most famous traditions, such as Mardi Gras and second-line parades.

Throughout the episode, Fry presents a warm and engaging portrait of the people and places of the Deep South. As always, he also provides an intellectual and thoughtful commentary on the history and culture of the region. "Deep South" is a fascinating and engaging exploration of one of the most unique regions in the United States.
