Superman: Red Son Motion Comics is a thrilling animated series produced by Warner Bros. based on the critically acclaimed graphic novel of the same name. The show imagines a world where instead of being raised in Smallville, Kansas, the iconic superhero is raised in the Soviet Union, and his now-communist views come into direct conflict with the views of the United States.

The show follows Superman's path as he becomes an integral part of the Soviet Union's government and how he uses his powers to serve that government. As he leads the country, the world is plunged into chaos, with tensions boiling over and the potential for nuclear war increasing.

The anime dives deep into the dystopian world that Superman has helped create. It introduces viewers to characters who are darker, grittier, and more complex than the heroes and villains they may be familiar with from earlier Superman films. In this reimagined world, everyone’s views are not black and white, which draws the viewer to care about every character.

The show doesn’t shy away from the intense subject matter, exploring some of the darker aspects of the Soviet Union's government, particularly under Stalin. The show opens with a montage of Joseph Stalin, and viewers are immediately introduced to a totalitarian regime that makes use of propaganda and fear to maintain power. However, the show also acknowledges the contradiction that exists in the United States government's own attempts to bring democracy to the world while supporting some of the most oppressive regimes on the planet.

However, as the series continues, it becomes clear that this Superman is not a villain. He's an idealistic leader who believes in a better future for his country and his people. Throughout the season, viewers are presented with an alternate world where Superman’s every move is criticized, and people question why he does what he does. Over the series, viewers watch as Superman slowly becomes the enemy of the American government.

The animation style in Superman: Red Son Motion Comics is fantastic. Every frame is densely packed with action and visual detail. The character designs are exceptionally strong, with Superman sporting a distinctive red and gray communist-themed suit. Additionally, his design and physique reflect the depiction of a man raised in harsh Soviet conditions.

The voice acting in the show is also top-notch. The vocal cast is led by Jason Isaacs, who brings a gravitas to the character of Superman. Additional voice-over performances by Vanessa Marshall and Amy Acker are equally impressive, bringing depth and complexity to their respective characters.

The show makes excellent use of music to add to the storytelling. The soundtrack was composed by Frederik Wiedmann, who has composed music for other popular Warner Bros. animated series such as Justice League and Green Lantern: The Animated Series. The music has an epic and sweeping feel, which matches the high stakes and global scope of the story.

The series is made up of two parts, each episode lasts a few minutes, thus making it easy to keep up with. The show is well-paced and does an excellent job of moving the story forward in each installment. Each part adds depth to the story being told, which allows the viewer to become more invested in the world Superman is in.

In conclusion, Superman: Red Son Motion Comics is an excellent animated series that is well worth a watch. With its engaging story, fantastic animation, and exceptional voice acting, it's sure to appeal to both fans of the Superman character and those who just love a great animated series. Despite having its source material from a graphic novel, the series moves forward with a fresh and innovative approach to this iconic character that brings forth new ideas on the character that one might not have ever considered.

Superman: Red Son Motion Comics is a series that is currently running and has 1 seasons (13 episodes). The series first aired on July 24, 2009.
