Supernoobs is an animated sci-fi adventure series that takes us on a thrilling journey with four middle school kids, Kevin, Tyler, Shope, and Roach, who are bestowed with some superpowers after an encounter with an alien. The show initially aired on Cartoon Network on November 2, 2015, and garnered a widespread fan following with its humor, action, and plot twists.
The first episode, "A Noob Hope," follows the four protagonists as they stumble upon an alien spacecraft and unwittingly unleash a virus in it. The virus, that takes the form of tiny robotic parasites, soon infects the kids and sets them on a path towards superheroism. Each of them acquires a unique power that they can use to fight off the virus and its subsequent manifestations.
Kevin, the cool guy of the group, gets the ability to stretch his limbs like rubber and hence becomes the team's de facto leader. Tyler, the jock, gains super strength. Shope, the intelligent girl, can make things invisible. And Roach, the computer geek, can generate energy balls and blasts.
As soon as the virus infects them, the noobs hear a voice in their head, that of an extraterrestrial intelligence known as Memnock. Memnock and his partner Zenblock are part of an intergalactic defense force that is fighting a war against an evil force called the Virus that wants to conquer the universe. Memnock and Zenblock are assigned to mentor the noobs and train them so that they can help in the fight against the Virus.
The first episode sets up the premise of the show and introduces the characters and their powers. The noobs receive the initial training from Memnock and Zenblock and are soon sent on their first mission to stop the Virus from stealing a powerful crystal from Earth. The crystal is hidden in a museum and the Virus sends its minions, the "Blasters," to retrieve it. The noobs have to fight off the Blasters and keep the crystal safe.
The main conflict of the episode is between the noobs and the Blasters who are far more experienced and powerful. The Blasters are a group of villains who have already been infected by the virus and are serving the Virus's cause. They possess a range of abilities, from shooting energy beams to shapeshifting to telekinesis. The noobs, who are still novices when it comes to using their powers, struggle to keep up with the Blasters and often end up in comical situations.
The real strength of the show lies in its humor, and the first episode doesn't disappoint. The interactions between the noobs are hilarious, and their attempts at superheroism often backfire, causing more trouble instead of solving it. The show manages to keep the tone light and entertaining, even when the stakes are high.
Apart from the humor, the show also has some themes that it explores. The idea of teamwork and cooperation is one of them. The noobs have to work together and use their unique strengths to overcome the challenges they face. The importance of friendship is also highlighted, as the noobs bond over their shared experiences and learn to trust each other.
Overall, the first episode of Supernoobs sets the stage for an action-packed, entertaining series with likable characters and a zany sense of humor. The show strikes the right balance between comedy, adventure, and sci-fi elements, making it a must-watch for fans of the genre.
