Ep 3. Old and New Wounds

As a result of the fights that took place in the last episode, Tamar and David finally come to a point where they need to have a real conversation about their relationship. David opens up about some of his past traumatic experiences that have shaped him into the person he is today, and Tamar begins to understand him better. They both agree to work on their communication moving forward, and Tamar promises to be more patient and understanding when it comes to David's triggers.

On the family side of things, Tamar invites her sisters and mother over to her new home to celebrate her engagement. However, tensions quickly rise as old wounds are re-opened, specifically between Tamar and her sister Trina. Tamar reveals that she feels neglected and unsupported by her siblings, causing Trina to become defensive. Toni tries to act as the mediator, but it becomes clear that the issues between the sisters run deep and will take more than one conversation to resolve.

Meanwhile, Tamar's new life coach Goli asserts his authority by staging an intervention with Tamar's assistant, who Goli feels is enabling Tamar's negative behavior. This leads to a difficult conversation where Tamar's assistant is forced to confront the impact of her behavior on Tamar's life and career. Goli also pushes Tamar to confront her own behavior, leading to an emotional breakthrough for Tamar.

As the episode comes to a close, Tamar takes steps towards healing the relationships in her life. She reaches out to her father, who she has been estranged from for years, and sets up a lunch date with him. She also meets with Trina to try and hash out their problems, leading to a genuine heart-to-heart conversation between the two sisters. However, tensions are still high when it comes to Tamar's career, as she clashes with her management team over her desire to release new music. It remains to be seen how Tamar will navigate these challenges moving forward, but one thing is clear - she is determined to get her life back on track.
