Watch The 52nd NAACP Image Awards

On March 27th, 2021, the 52nd NAACP Image Awards premiered on Paramount+. The show began with a powerful rendition of "Lift Every Voice and Sing," widely considered to be the Black national anthem, performed by Macy Gray. Anderson then took the stage, accompanied by a virtual audience, due to COVID-19 restrictions. He delivered a comedic and heartfelt monologue, touching on current events and the importance of representation in media.

Throughout the evening, awards were presented in over 60 categories, including Outstanding Actor and Actress in a Motion Picture, Outstanding New Artist, and Outstanding Literary Work. Among the nominees were well-known stars like Viola Davis, Chadwick Boseman, and Issa Rae, as well as rising talents like Javicia Leslie and Moses Ingram.

Interspersed between the awards were musical performances from chart-topping artists, including H.E.R., Jazmine Sullivan, and Maxwell. Each performer delivered electrifying sets, showcasing their vocal and instrumental abilities with soulful renditions of their hit songs.
