When the Clampetts visit their neighbors, the Drysdales, they meet the beautiful and charming Gloria Harker, who is there to attend a party. Duke, the family bloodhound, immediately falls in love with her and follows her home. Meanwhile, Gloria's father is in town and the Drysdales are eagerly trying to impress him so they can do business with his company. However, when Gloria's father meets the Clampetts, he is taken aback by their hillbilly ways and is not interested in doing business with them. To make matters worse, Duke has followed Gloria all the way home and ends up stealing her away from her fiancé at the altar. The Clampetts, unaware of Duke's actions, invite Gloria and her family over for a fancy dinner and unknowingly become involved in the scandal.
As the news of Duke and Gloria spreads throughout Beverly Hills, the Clampetts become the talk of the town. Despite the negative attention, they continue to welcome Gloria and her family into their home, even going so far as to throw a party in their honor. However, the situation becomes more complicated as the Drysdales try to keep the scandal from affecting their business dealings with Gloria's father.
Throughout the episode, the viewer is treated to the usual comedic antics of the Clampett family as they try to navigate their way through high society. There are misunderstandings, cultural clashes, and plenty of bizarre and hilarious situations that will have the audience laughing out loud.
Overall, "Duke Steals a Wife" is a delightful episode of The Beverly Hillbillies that exemplifies the show's lighthearted humor and charm.
