In Denver, Colorado, Robert Heckendorff and his 69th Air Battalion SpecialOperations Group are a group of ex-USAF veterans dedicated to keeping alivethe memory of the Interservice Combat Search and Rescue teams. These teamshave rescued downed airmen from combat situations in conflicts from Koreaand Vietnam to the Gulf and Serbia, and their motto: Never leave a manbehind - means exactly what it says. At airshows across the US, Robert andhis team recreate the rescue of a downed A37 pilot, based on an actual eventthat took place in the Vietnam war. As the downed pilot comes under enemyfire, Robert's Skyraider arrives on the scene, providing covering machinegun fire and a wall of napalm while the pilot is extracted by specialforces. It's a test not just of the team's flying skills but also of theirexpertise with the explosives that simulate the bullet hits and napalm.
