Ep 9. Chidi's Choice

Chidi is faced with a difficult decision in episode nine of The Good Place season one. The episode begins with Chidi trying to mediate between Tahani and Jianyu, who are having a disagreement over a telescope. However, Chidi is distracted by the realization that he has not yet chosen a soulmate in the afterlife.

His indecision stems from his fear of making the wrong choice and that he will cause an eternal soulmate breakup. He enlists the help of Janet to simulate different scenarios with his potential soulmates in order to make an informed decision.

As he goes through each simulation, Chidi begins to realize that all of his options have flaws and that there is no perfect choice. He becomes increasingly anxious and frustrated, even breaking down in tears at one point.

Meanwhile, Eleanor and Jason team up to prank Michael, the architect of their neighborhood, and to steal Janet's void to hide in during an upcoming party. Their plan backfires when they accidentally summon a wind chime that opens up a portal to a demon-filled void instead.

As the chaos ensues, Chidi realizes that he needs to make a decision and chooses his soulmate, but the consequences of his choice are not what he expects.

The episode ends with a cliffhanger, leaving the audience eager for the next installment in the series.
