The Last Ship Season 1 Episode 8 Two Sailors Walk Into a Bar...

After a harrowing journey across the ocean, the crew of the USS Nathan James first pick up a signal from a Soviet signal tower named Sabine. As they approach the island, they realize that it has been left abandoned. They discover that the island has been set up with booby traps all over and is laden with mines. Upon reaching the shore, they find two men, Tophet and Burk, who explain that they've been there for months and haven't seen a single person.

The crew becomes intrigued and they decide to find out what really happened to the people on the island. While some of the crew scavenge for any remaining supplies, Tophet reveals that they've been able to survive by accessing a whiskey distillery located on the island. The crew decides to take a break and have a drink, but things quickly go awry when an argument erupts between two sailors, Tex and Master Chief.

As the argument heats up, the two sailors decide to settle the matter in a fistfight. The rest of the crew gathers around to watch the spectacle, but things take a dark turn when one of the men is knocked out and doesn't wake up. Panic sets in as the crew scrambles to figure out what to do.

Meanwhile, Captain Chandler and his first officer, Slattery, are exploring the island when they come across a group of Russians. The Russians have been hiding out on the island, afraid to return to their homeland. They tell Chandler and Slattery that they are former Soviet scientists who were working on a project to create a cure for the virus. They reveal that the virus is worse than anyone had imagined and that they were forced to abandon their work when the virus broke out.

As Chandler and Slattery continue to explore the island, they find evidence that the Russians had been working on a cure. However, they must hurry as time is running out and they need to find a way to get the cure back to the mainland before it's too late.

Tensions remain high between the crew as they try to figure out how to handle the situation with the injured sailor.
