Ep 4. Strange Bedfellows

Talon is still moving around in the Outpost trying to get used to the way of life there while the rest of the Outpost goers try to get their bearings in the new situation. It is a period of upheaval and confusion in the compound, and people are just starting to understand where they fit and who they trust. Episode 4, titled Strange Bedfellows, is all about this new era of The Outpost as the former Blackblood searches for answers.

As the episode opens, Talon is in the middle of a confrontation with Garret, the captain of the guards when she finds out that there is someone she has to protect in the Outpost. Meanwhile, Janzo, the local nerd, is trying to get some sort of understanding as to who to trust with the Blackbloods and why they came to the Outpost. Gwynn, the leader of the Outpost who is also a princess, is running things and trying to keep everything together as things get more complicated.

Into this mix comes an envoy from the Prime Order, the powerful group which rules over the Outpost. The envoy announces that there has been a change and that the Prime Order will now attempt to cooperate with the Outpost. This is a significant change as the Prime Order had previously been at odds with the Outpost and even tried to take it over. Now, the Prime Order is saying that they need the Outpost's help to stave off a potential threat.

This causes a great deal of anxiety and tension in the Outpost as people try to figure out why the Prime Order is suddenly interested in working with them. Some believe that it is a trap, while others believe that it is an opportunity to join forces against a common enemy. There are those who are still sceptical but are willing to hear the envoy out. Gwynn, taking charge of the situation, agrees to meet with the Prime Order to see if there is anything she can do to help.

As she goes to meet with the Prime Order, Talon is still searching for answers and decides to follow the envoy. She listens in on the conversation and discovers that there is something much darker and more threatening going on than anyone had previously thought. The envoy relates that there is a new force coming, one that is much more powerful than the Prime Order. Talon overhears the envoy saying that they have a prophecy that the Blackbloods will be the only ones who can fight and win against this new threat.

As the envoy leaves, Talon tries to confront her about the prophecy, but she is unable to get any real answers. This leads her to consult with Janzo about the Blackbloods and their role in all of this. Janzo tells Talon that the Blackbloods are "chosen ones" and that they are the only hope in the fight against the new force.

As Talon and Janzo discuss what to do with this information, Gwynn meets with the Prime Order. She is quite sceptical and asks a lot of questions but eventually agrees to help, believing that this may be the only way to save the Outpost. However, her decision is met with opposition from her own people, and she must find a way to convince them.

Meanwhile, Garret is still trying to get back in Talon's good graces after their earlier confrontation. He follows her and Janzo to a secret hideout where they are trying to uncover more information about the Blackbloods. There, they are ambushed by assassins sent by the Prime Order. The group is able to fight them off and escape, but they are left with more questions than answers.

As the episode comes to a close, Gwynn's decision has split the Outpost, and Talon is still trying to figure out her place in all of this. The threat of the new force looms large, and it is up to the Blackbloods to decide whether they will get involved and help save the Outpost. Episode 4, Strange Bedfellows, sets up the rest of the season, with new allies and enemies appearing, and the fate of the Outpost hanging in the balance.
