Emma and her friends are still in their quest to escape the farm where they were raised as food. Ray, Emma and Gilda infiltrate the shelter room to find out Morse codes written on the wall of the room. The codes indicate that someone who had escaped from the farm was trying to give a message to the other children about the outside world.

Meanwhile, Norman, who was revealed to have been taken away for special training, was desperately trying to survive and find his way back to his friends with the help of a new ally. The story toggles between present and past, revealing the backstory of one of the key characters, letting us understand what they are going through.

As the plot thickens, Emma and Ray get to know more about what goes on behind the walls of the farm, and the owners of the farm get closer to finding out who among the children has been plotting to escape. The children must keep a low profile and not get caught with their plans, as they fear that they would meet the same fate as the ones who were caught before.

Through twists and turns, the characters undergo great changes in their personalities. Emma, who was once an idealistic and somewhat a naive character, learns to make decisions based on a much more practical standpoint. Ray, who is glimpsed to be cynical and calculative at the beginning of the show, learns to function more as a team player and a supporter of Emma's decisions. The supporting cast contributes equally to the show's dynamics, all with their quirks that make them stand out from each other.

The Promised Neverland gives us an immersive and intense experience, filled with unexpected twists that keeps us on the edge of our seats. The production quality, such as sound design and cinematography, is top-notch, making the audience's thrill and excitement more palpable. The show explores dark themes such as society's disregard for the weak and the defenceless, and the moral dilemmas that come with it, executed in a way that is both mature and thought-provoking.

In conclusion, The Promised Neverland season 1 episode 8 does not disappoint, keeping the momentum that the show has been building so far. It delivers excellent character development, heart-stopping action and an engrossing plot, leaving the watchers eagerly anticipating for the next episode.
