The Steve Wilkos Show Season 10 Episode 11 You Caught an S.T.D. Just Confess
- October 3, 2016
As a talk show host and former US Marine and policeman, Steve Wilkos has his work cut out for him, trying to create a safe and respectful space for people to confess their deepest, darkest secrets and receive the help they need. In this episode, titled "You Caught an S.T.D. Just Confess," Steve tackles the difficult topic of sexually transmitted diseases and the importance of honesty and transparency with one's sexual partners.
The show starts off with a guest named Justin, who admits to cheating on his girlfriend and subsequently contracting an S.T.D. Justin is wracked with guilt and fear, but he doesn't want to tell his girlfriend what he's done. Steve explains that this lack of honesty is incredibly dangerous, not only for Justin's girlfriend but for anyone else he may come into contact with sexually. Steve offers Justin a chance to come clean on his show, and Justin agrees to tell his girlfriend the truth.
Next up is a couple named Mike and Lisa, who both tested positive for Chlamydia and are struggling with feelings of betrayal and anger. Lisa accuses Mike of cheating, but Mike denies it. Steve brings out Dr. Rachael Ross, an expert on sexual health, to explain to the couple how S.T.D.s can sometimes be asymptomatic and that either one of them could have contracted the disease without realizing it. Lisa and Mike gradually come to realize that it's impossible to say who gave the disease to whom, and instead of finger-pointing and blame, they begin to focus on treating their S.T.D.s and moving forward in their relationship.
Finally, Steve talks to a woman named Anesa, who is experiencing intense guilt and anxiety after cheating on her husband and contracting an S.T.D. Anesa is wracked with shame and self-hatred, but Steve takes a compassionate approach, offering her the chance to make things right by confessing to her husband and seeking help. Anesa is hesitant at first but eventually agrees to make the confession on camera, breaking down in tears as she admits what she's done.
Throughout the episode, Steve emphasizes the importance of honesty, communication, and accountability when it comes to sexual health. He reminds his guests that S.T.D.s are nothing to be ashamed of, and that seeking treatment and telling one's sexual partners the truth is the best way to prevent the spread of disease and preserve healthy relationships. Steve's tough-love approach may be intimidating, but in the end, his guests walk away with a newfound sense of clarity and empowerment, ready to confront their demons head-on and make the changes they need to live happier and healthier lives.
