According to Kayla's mother, Kayla has lied about everything from being pregnant to being sexually abused, and even once claimed that she had cancer. Kayla's mother admits that she loves her daughter but finds it difficult to believe her because of her past lies.

Then, Steve brings out Kayla's brother, who claims that he never strangled his sister. According to him, he and Kayla were having a heated argument, but he never once laid his hands on her. He believes that Kayla is lying and just trying to cause trouble.

Another witness, a neighbor, also claims to have heard the commotion and saw the brother being physically aggressive towards Kayla.

Eventually, Steve brings out a lie detector test, which Kayla, her brother, and her mother all agree to take. The results of the test are surprising and shocking, leading to an emotional revelation about what really happened the night that Kayla was allegedly strangled.
