The Steve Wilkos Show Season 8 Episode 56 He Abused Me, Is He Abusing Our Daughter?
He Abused Me, Is He Abusing Our Daughter? is the 56th episode of season 8 of The Steve Wilkos Show. In this episode, a woman named Angie comes to the show for help in figuring out if her husband, Kevin, is abusing their 5-year-old daughter, Ava. Angie claims that Kevin has been physically abusive towards her and has now started to exhibit the same behavior towards their daughter.
Angie tells Steve that she and Kevin have been married for seven years and that the abuse started early on in their relationship. She says that Kevin has hit her, choked her, and pushed her down stairs over the years. She has stayed with him because she was afraid of what he might do if she left and was also hoping that he would change.
Angie says that she first noticed signs that Kevin was abusing their daughter about a year ago. She says that Ava would come home from spending time with Kevin with bruises on her body and would tell her mother that her father had hit her. Angie says that Kevin would deny hitting Ava and would claim that she must have gotten the bruises from playing or falling down.
Angie tells Steve that she doesn't know what to do and that she's afraid for her daughter's safety. She says that she's afraid to leave Kevin because she doesn't want to lose custody of Ava or have Kevin hurt her. She also says that she's afraid that if she stays, Kevin will continue to abuse their daughter.
Steve brings Kevin out to join the conversation and asks him about the abuse allegations. Kevin denies hitting his wife or daughter and claims that Angie is making up lies to try and take their daughter away from him. Steve then brings out a polygraph expert to administer a lie detector test to both Angie and Kevin.
The results of the test are shocking and reveal that Kevin was lying about the abuse. Steve then confronts Kevin and tells him that he needs to seek help for his violent behavior. He also tells Angie that she needs to get her daughter and leave Kevin immediately.
Steve then brings out a therapist to talk to Angie about the resources available to her and Ava now that they are leaving Kevin. The therapist tells Angie about counseling services and support groups for victims of domestic violence and gives her information on how to obtain a restraining order.
The episode ends with Steve encouraging anyone who is experiencing domestic violence to seek help and reminding viewers that there is no shame in asking for help.
