In "The Tomorrow People" season 1 episode 1, titled "Pilot," we are introduced to a new world in which a small group of people have evolved in ways the rest of humanity has not yet reached. These evolving individuals, known as tomorrow people, have the power of telekinesis, teleportation, and telepathy. They are able to move objects with their minds, disappear and reappear in any location they choose, and read each other's thoughts without speaking.

Our main character, Stephen Jameson (Robbie Amell), is just an average young man trying to navigate his way through high school. He's been struggling with what he thinks are panic attacks, but they are actually his first signs of developing tomorrow people abilities. His father, who he believes left him and his mother years ago, has actually just been "missing" and presumed dead.

One night, Stephen tries to follow his little brother into a creepy abandoned building and finds himself in the middle of a standoff between the tomorrow people and an organization hunting them down, known as Ultra. Ultra is led by Jedikiah Price (Mark Pellegrino), Stephen's uncle and Jedikiah's long-lost brother.

It is through this confrontation that Stephen learns of his abilities and the existence of the tomorrow people. He also learns of Ultra's mission to capture and control the tomorrow people through any means necessary. In the mix of this battle, Stephen also discovers that his father was not a missing person, but was actually a tomorrow person who had gone into hiding to keep his family safe.

Stephen is faced with a difficult decision of whether to join the tomorrow people or align himself with his uncle and Ultra. His mother is devastated by the discovery of the truth of her husband's disappearance and becomes an unwilling accomplice to Jedikiah's mission to capture the tomorrow people.

As Stephen navigates his new reality, he discovers more about his abilities and those of the other tomorrow people. He meets Cara Coburn (Peyton List), the leader of the tomorrow people, and becomes drawn to her. John Young (Luke Mitchell) is another powerful tomorrow person who acts as Cara's right-hand man. Astrid Finch (Madeleine Mantock), Stephen's best friend, also becomes embroiled in the world of the tomorrow people.

Overall, "The Tomorrow People" season 1 episode 1 sets up an exciting, action-packed series with a lot of potential for character development and exploration of the world of the tomorrow people and their struggle against Ultra. Stephen's journey from an average high school student to a powerful tomorrow person with crucial decisions to make is compelling and leaves the viewer eager to see where his journey takes him. The episode does a great job of establishing the world, the characters, and the stakes, making it a solid start to the series.
