Ep 4. Millennium

In The X-Files season 7 episode 4, titled "Millennium," Mulder and Scully are assigned to investigate a seemingly random series of murders which have occurred around the turn of the millennium. Each victim, all male, has been found with their watches and wallets removed, and a small piece of paper bearing a strange symbol left in their place.

As the team delves deeper into the case, they discover a connection to a secretive religious organization that believes in the arrival of a new millennium. The organization, called the Millennium Group, has ties to the mysterious symbol found at each crime scene and appears to be using the murders to further its own goals.

Mulder and Scully soon find themselves caught up in a game of cat and mouse with the Millennium Group, as they race against time to stop the next murder and bring the killers to justice. Along the way, they must navigate a web of deceit and betrayal, uncovering shocking truths about the killers' motivations and the true nature of the Millennium Group's agenda.

"Millennium" is a tense, thrilling episode that perfectly captures the mood and paranoia of the late 1990s. The script is expertly crafted, slowly weaving together seemingly disparate threads into a cohesive whole that is both exciting and terrifying. The performances from David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are excellent, as always, and guest star Lance Henriksen shines as the enigmatic Frank Black.

Overall, "Millennium" is a standout episode in the X-Files canon and a must-watch for fans of the series. Its exploration of religious fanaticism, apocalypticism, and the fear of the unknown make it a timely and relevant piece of science fiction, even twenty years after its original air date.
