The first segment, This Old House, is titled "Changes Start to Show" and follows the progress of an extensive renovation of a 1930s Dutch Colonial. Host Kevin O'Connor joins general contractor Tom Silva as they check out the progress on the project's exterior, including the installation of new windows and siding. Kevin also meets up with homeowner Katherine and architect Doreve to discuss plans for the home's new kitchen.

Inside the house, Tom works with plumber Richard Trethewey to install a new heating and cooling system. The team also replaces the old hot water heater with a more energy-efficient model. Later, Kevin visits a nearby factory to see how the custom-made kitchen cabinets for the renovation are being manufactured.

The second half of the episode features Ask This Old House, where the team answers home improvement questions from viewers. First, Kevin and electrician Scott Caron help replace garage lights with motion-activated LED fixtures. Next, Scott demonstrates how to use several types of saws and discusses the benefits of each.

Finally, Tom and Richard answer a question from a homeowner whose radiators aren't heating up properly. After examining the system, Richard determines that the issue is due to a faulty valve and shows how to replace it.
