Ep 1. The Suitcase

In Trial & Error season 2 episode 1, titled "The Suitcase," the small town of East Peck, South Carolina is shocked when a dead body is found in a suitcase in the river. The body is soon identified as belonging to the beloved wife of a local poet, Larry Henderson (played by John Lithgow), who was previously on trial for the murder of his first wife.

New York lawyer Josh Segal (played by Nicholas D'Agosto) returns to East Peck to defend Henderson once again, despite the fact that he still believes him to be guilty of the first murder. With the help of his quirky team of legal assistants – including investigator Dwayne Reed (played by Steven Boyer), assistant Anne Flatch (played by Sherri Shepherd), and researcher Summer Henderson (played by Krysta Rodriguez) – Segal begins to piece together the facts surrounding the second murder case.

Complicating matters is the fact that Henderson's daughter Summer (played by Kristin Chenoweth) has returned to town and is vying for control of her father's estate. She has also brought with her a new husband, an odd and charming young man named Trammell (played by Tony Award nominee Steven Boyer), who quickly becomes a source of suspicion for the legal team.

As Segal investigates the second murder case, he realizes that there are many hidden secrets in this seemingly idyllic town. With each new revelation, he becomes more convinced that Henderson is not the only one with something to hide.

"The Suitcase" is a gripping and hilarious season premiere that sets the tone for the rest of the series. With its unique blend of comedy and drama, Trial & Error is a must-watch for fans of legal thrillers and dark comedies alike.
