Triple D Nation: Mac Meat is the 52nd episode of the first season of the Food Network series Triple D Nation. In this episode, host Guy Fieri revisits some of the best mac and cheese dishes from around the country that have been featured on previous episodes of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.
The episode opens with Fieri introducing some of the most popular mac and cheese dishes that have been featured on the show, including a lobster mac and cheese from Little Bigs in Houston, Texas, and a bacon mac and cheese from The Vortex in Atlanta, Georgia.
Fieri then visits Sodie's in Lubbock, Texas, where he tries their signature mac and cheese with grilled chicken and jalapenos. He also explores the history of the restaurant, which has been in business since the 1930s and is known for its classic diner fare.
Next, Fieri heads to Hollywood, California, to visit The Grilled Cheese Truck, which offers a variety of gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches, including one with mac and cheese and bacon. Fieri talks to the owners about their inspiration for the truck and the challenges of running a mobile food business.
Fieri's next stop is in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he visits a restaurant called Truffles N Bacon Cafe, which specializes in bacon-infused dishes. He tries their mac and cheese with bacon and truffle oil, as well as their bacon-wrapped meatloaf and bacon-wrapped hot dog.
The episode concludes with Fieri visiting a restaurant in Portland, Oregon, called The Big Cheese Poutinerie, which serves up a unique twist on mac and cheese with their poutine topped with mac and cheese and pulled pork.
Throughout the episode, Fieri shares behind-the-scenes stories about the restaurants and dishes he visits, as well as his trademark enthusiasm for food and the people who make it.
