In Tsuritama season 1 episode 3, titled "Lonely Casting," Yuki, Haru, Natsuki, and Akira prepare for their first fishing expedition together. However, before they can set off, they must first purchase the necessary equipment. Yuki and Natsuki decide to go shopping for fishing gear, while Akira and Haru work on their fishing techniques.

Despite seeming excited to go fishing, Yuki is secretly nervous and feels inadequate compared to the others, who all seem to have prior experience and know-how. This anxiety only increases when the group meets an expert fisherman named Koyuki, who seems to also know Haru from somewhere. Yuki begins to feel inferior and worries that he will disappoint everyone.

Meanwhile, Haru is excited to show off his fishing skills to Koyuki, and Akira is determined to catch a whale-shark, even though it seems nearly impossible. Natsuki, on the other hand, is more preoccupied with taking photos of the scenery and the group's activities, and seems less interested in actually catching fish.

As they begin to cast their lines, each character grows more and more invested in their own personal goals, causing tensions to rise between them. Yuki becomes increasingly frustrated with himself and his lack of success, while Akira's obsession with catching a whale-shark puts the group in danger.

Despite these challenges, the group eventually comes together to help each other out. Yuki receives encouragement and advice from Koyuki, who reveals that he too had once struggled with fishing but eventually found success through perseverance. Haru helps Akira realize that his obsession with the whale-shark was putting the group in danger, and Natsuki takes a picture that captures the true spirit of their fishing trip.

Through their shared experiences, the group bonds and grows closer, and Yuki learns the valuable lesson that success is not just about catching fish, but also about enjoying the process and being surrounded by supportive friends.
