Ep 1. Some Like It Fiat

Mike Brewer and Ant Anstead are back for a brand new season of Wheeler Dealers, and their first project is a 1972 Fiat 124 Spider. In this episode, titled "Some Like It Fiat," the dynamic duo set out to restore this classic Italian sports car and turn it into a hot-rod for a new generation.

At first glance, the Fiat seems like a great candidate for restoration - it's in good shape, with no major rust or damage. But as Mike and Ant dig deeper, they discover a number of issues that will make this project more challenging than they initially anticipated.

The first problem is the engine. The Fiat's original motor is a 1.6-liter inline-four that produces a mere 90 horsepower - not exactly the kind of power you want in a sports car. Mike and Ant decide to swap it out for a more modern 2.0-liter engine from a Fiat coupe, which will give the car a much-needed boost in horsepower.

But that's just the beginning of the upgrades. The Fiat's suspension is also in need of an overhaul, so Mike and Ant install a new set of shocks and springs, along with a bigger front sway bar. They also fit the car with a new set of wheels and tires, which improve both the car's handling and its curb appeal.

Inside, the Fiat's cabin is showing its age. The seats are worn and the carpet is faded, so Mike and Ant decide to give the interior a complete makeover. They replace the seats with a set of retro-inspired sport buckets, and install new carpets and door panels. They also add a few modern touches, like a new stereo system with Bluetooth connectivity.

Of course, no project car is complete without a few unexpected complications. Along the way, Mike and Ant run into a number of challenges - from a stubborn bolt that won't budge to a faulty wiring harness that causes the car to stall. But with their trademark humor and ingenuity, they manage to overcome every obstacle and get the Fiat back on the road.

As with every episode of Wheeler Dealers, there's plenty of drama and excitement as Mike and Ant work their magic on this classic Italian roadster. But there's also a deeper appreciation for the history and craftsmanship of these beautiful vintage cars - and the joy that comes from restoring them to their former glory.
