Ep 4. Going Back to Cali

John Dutton and his family have been through a tough time in the previous episodes of Yellowstone season 3. In episode 4, titled Going Back to Cali, the Dutton family must deal with even more challenges and threats.

The episode begins with John receiving a phone call from Angela Blue Thunder, the tribal council chairman's assistant. She informs John that there's been a leak in the payments that the ranch makes to the reservation. The leak has been traced back to Governor Perry's office. This information makes John deeply concerned and he begins to take action to protect himself and his family.

Elsewhere, Beth is dealing with a situation of her own. Roarke Morris, the hedge fund manager who has been trying to buy out the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch, arrives in Montana. Roarke tries to sweet-talk Beth, offering her a partnership and even a job at his firm in California. Beth, however, is not impressed. She confronts Roarke, reminding him that she is not leaving Montana and that she will not sell the ranch.

Meanwhile, Jamie is having a tough time at his new job as the attorney general of Montana. He faces criticism from the press and even his own father. John is upset that Jamie leaked information about the ranch's water rights to the media, which is now being used against him. Jamie tries to defend himself, but John is not convinced. It is evident that tensions are rising between father and son.

As the episode progresses, John receives a visit from the Governor Perry, who wants to talk about the leak. John is cautious and does not believe the governor's assurances that she had no involvement in the leak. He warns her to stay away from the ranch and his family.

Later, John meets with Angela Blue Thunder, who tells him that there's a faction in the tribe that is unhappy with him and wants to see him gone. She warns John to be careful.

The Dutton family is also dealing with other issues. It is revealed that Tate, John's grandson has been suspended from school for mocking Native American traditions. Monica is upset and wants to educate Tate on respecting the tribe's traditions. Kayce, on the other hand, wants to protect his son and reminds Monica that he knows how it feels to be caught in the crossfire of the Dutton family's conflicts.

The tension between the Dutton family and their enemies continues to build. In one scene, John's daughter Beth is seen riding on horseback with Rip, a wrangler and enforcer for the family. Rip tells her that he's worried about her and that he cannot lose her. Beth assures him that he will never lose her.

Towards the end of the episode, a new character is introduced. Teeter, a tough, no-nonsense wrangler, arrives at the ranch. Teeter and Colby, another wrangler, have a history, and it is clear that their relationship is strained. It remains to be seen what role Teeter will play in the upcoming episodes.

Going Back to Cali is a tense, action-packed episode that serves to highlight the various conflicts and threats faced by the Dutton family. The stakes are higher than ever before, and the family is forced to make difficult decisions in order to protect themselves and their livelihood.
