Ep 3. Inside Spring

Kosei starts to come out of his shell in the third episode of Your Lie in April's first season, titled "Inside Spring." The young pianist has been struggling to find his way back to music following his mother's death, and has been wondering what the point of playing piano is if he can't see the colors the way his late mother did.

But his musical partner in crime Kaori is determined to get him out of his funk, and pushes him to play in a local street music festival. Kosei reluctantly agrees, and soon finds himself surrounded by a supportive network of musicians who see something in him that he can't see in himself.

The episode kicks off with one of Kosei's rivals, a cocky pianist named Takeshi, strolling up to the street festival and causing a stir with his flashy playing. Takeshi and Kosei have a history -- they were both protégés of the same music teacher -- and their rivalry is fueled by their shared past and their different approaches to music.

Meanwhile, Kaori is trying to convince Kosei to get up on stage and play, but he's still hesitant. Finally, after watching Takeshi perform, Kosei decides he's had enough and agrees to play, albeit with a lot of anxiety.

At first, Kosei struggles to connect with the music, feeling like he's just going through the motions. But as he starts to lose himself in the music, something changes. He starts to feel the colors his mother talked about, and realizes that music can be more than just a technical exercise -- it can be an emotional experience that connects people.

The episode is filled with beautiful moments, from the camaraderie that develops between Kosei and the other musicians, to the tension between Kosei and Takeshi, who is visibly shaken by Kosei's performance.

Throughout it all, Kaori is a constant presence, pushing Kosei to be better and showing him that music can be a source of joy and healing. Her playful spirit and infectious energy are the perfect antidote to Kosei's brooding, and the two of them make a great team.

As the episode comes to a close, Kosei realizes that he's been hiding from music because he's afraid to confront his own emotions. But with Kaori's help, he's starting to find his way back.
