  • July 16, 2006

Louise is the protagonist in the show Zero No Tsukaima. In the first two episodes, we got to know her as an incompetent magician who couldn't even perform simple spells. She is also known as Louise the Zero because of her lack of magical abilities. However, in the third episode, we see a different side of Louise.

The episode, titled "Feverish Temptation," begins with Louise, who is sick with a fever, lying in bed in her dorm room. Saito, her familiar, is taking care of her. However, despite his good intentions, Saito's efforts are not enough to help Louise feel better. Feeling helpless, Saito leaves the room to find a way to cure her fever.

While Saito is away, Louise starts having feverish dreams. In these dreams, she sees herself as an accomplished magician, able to cast powerful spells. But the dreams soon take a dark turn when she sees Saito being attacked by a giant dragon. In her dream, she tries to save him but fails. When she wakes up, Louise is even more desperate to cure her fever and save Saito.

Meanwhile, outside the dorm room, Saito meets with Kirche, one of the female students at the school. Kirche is known for her seductive nature, and she tries to use her charm to get Saito to spend time with her. Saito, however, is not interested, and he tells Kirche that he has to take care of Louise.

Kirche, feeling rejected, decides to take advantage of Louise's absence and break into her room to steal a potion. However, when she enters the room, she is surprised to find Louise lying in bed, feverish and helpless. Kirche, who is not known for her kindness, decides to help Louise out of pity and mixes a potion to cure her fever.

When Saito returns to the room, he is relieved to find that Louise is feeling better. However, he is also surprised to see Kirche there. Though Kirche tries to seduce Saito again, he remains loyal to Louise and tells Kirche to leave. Louise, who has overheard the conversation, is grateful to Saito and starts to see him in a new light.

As the episode ends, Louise's fever breaks, and she is finally able to use her magic properly. She realizes that her dreams were a manifestation of her desire to become a great magician and to protect Saito. Though she still has a long way to go, Louise is determined to become a powerful magician and a better master to Saito.

In conclusion, "Feverish Temptation" is an important episode in the series as it shows us a different side of Louise, who up till now has been portrayed as an incompetent magician. Through her feverish dreams and her interactions with Saito and Kirche, we see her vulnerability and her determination to become stronger. This episode also introduces us to Kirche, who will play an important role in the series, and sets up the dynamic between the three characters.
