Watch Anderson

Anderson is a syndicated talk show that premiered fall 2011. It is one of many talk shows launched after Oprah Winfrey retired from the field earlier in 2011. Anderson is a talk show with a difference. The credentials of the host put in him in a totally different playing field from fellow hosts Rachael Ray and Kelly Ripa. Anderson Cooper is hosting the show while continuing production on his nightly newscast, Anderson 360. People are probably most familiar with his hard news credentials, which began with international news segments broadcast on Channel One, a news program for students from the 1990s. However, Cooper has mixed in gigs like hosting Celebrity Mole. He's also the son of famous socialite Gloria Vanderbilt. This mixed background gives him a unique style.

His varied background influences the mix of guests on the show. Several episodes were devoted to the mothers and daughters from Toddlers and Tiaras. It's definitely a prominent stop on the talk show circuit for celebrities promoting projects. Past guests have included Hugh Jackman, Emma Watson, and Angelina Jolie. The talk show veers into serious subjects. Episodes have focused on people wrongly convicted of murder and families affected by suicide.

Cooper also uses social media in new and interesting ways on his talk show. For optimum social media involvement the show now airs live in many markets so viewers can interact with Cooper and his staff during the show. Viewers can use Twitter, Tumblr, and Facebook to communicate with the show.

Talk shows are a staple of day time television. Through Cooper's own personality and background, mix of stories, and use of social media Anderson manages a fresh take on an old idea.
