Ep 2. I Need to Know

Jules (Courteney Cox) is dealing with some serious problems in "I Need to Know," the second episode of Cougar Town season four. First and foremost, she's anxious about Travis (Dan Byrd). He didn't come home the night before, and she's worried sick. Jules is in full-on mother mode, calling everyone she can think of to try and track him down. It's clear that she's still adjusting to the idea of Travis being a grownup and not needing her quite as much as she would like.

Meanwhile, Laurie (Busy Philipps) is struggling with her own relationship issues. She and Wade (Ryan Devlin) have hit a rough patch, and she's not sure what to do about it. Laurie becomes determined to figure out what's going on with Wade, and in classic Laurie fashion, she enlists her friends to help her get to the bottom of it. This leads to some awkward moments, but it's clear that Laurie is not going to give up until she gets the answers she needs.

As if Jules and Laurie's problems weren't enough, Grayson (Josh Hopkins) is dealing with some issues of his own. He's in a bit of a funk, feeling like he's not quite sure what his purpose in life is. Grayson decides to try to figure out what he really wants, and it leads him down a surprising path. Through it all, however, he remains his typically charming and funny self.

One of the standout moments of "I Need to Know" is the scene between Jules and Travis when he finally returns home. Courteney Cox is absolutely amazing in this scene, expertly conveying Jules's complicated mix of relief, anger, and worry. Dan Byrd is equally fantastic, showing Travis's growing frustration with his mother. It's a scene that feels completely real, and it's a testament to the talent of the actors involved.

Throughout the episode, there are also plenty of funny moments that Cougar Town fans have come to expect. Laurie, in particular, has some great one-liners, and the whole gang has some classic banter. There's even a fun running gag involving Andy's (Ian Gomez) love of pudding cups that will have viewers giggling.

Overall, "I Need to Know" is a solid episode of Cougar Town that showcases the strengths of the show. It's a warm, funny, and at times emotional look at a group of friends who are all trying to figure things out. Whether it's Jules worrying about Travis, Laurie trying to save her relationship, or Grayson wrestling with his own sense of purpose, the characters are all relatable and lovable. It's clear that even after four seasons, the writers and actors of Cougar Town still have plenty of gas in the tank.
